Obamacare Ver. 3.01

My wife and I watched the Obama health care bipartisan (?) meeting at Blair House the other day. It accomplished nothing of substance as far as we could determine. It was more of a photo op (national TV exposure) for Obama. He loves to be on TV. It came off more like a college professor lecturing his students whom he allowed to recite so long as they were mostly in agreement with him. Its noteworthy that he allowed the Democrats 2:1 more speaking time than Republicans. I think it was Sarah Palin that said more was accomplished at the "beer summit on the White House lawn" than at Blair House. Democrats and Obama have spent most of 2009 pushing their ill-fated healthcare legislation for the rest of us. They should be spending more positive time and effort on the jobs situation. My nephew in New Mexico that is a horse trainer said it best on his facebook post. He said, "My horses and dogs understand Whoa. What is it Obama doesn't understand about No?"

Root Canal

You may find it difficult to believe, but I'm actually looking forward to my appointment next Tuesday with the dentist to get a root canal done and a crown on molar #30. This thing has been driving me nuts for over a month now. I cannot lay down flat without developing a high-level tooth and ear ache in my right jaw within a few minutes. This makes it almost impossible to lay down and go to sleep. When I do go to sleep I'm awake in a few minutes with the ache. I try to sleep sitting propped up with several pillows. It helps a little, but when I do get to sleep I'm awake within half an hour or so with the ache. I get up and walk around a few minutes and the ache subsides to a tolerable level, but returns within five to ten minutes after getting back in bed. I've tried sleeping in my recliner and on the sofa to no avail. I desperately need a good night of sleep. I'm irritable and cranky. Thankfully, my wife so far has been understanding and sympathetic, but I don't know how much longer she can put up with this nonsense. It's driving me crazy and she may not be too far behind. So, I'm looking forward to getting that root canal done!

National Debt

By Congressman Michael McCaul

mccaul4$14,294,000,000,000

Democrats voted last week to continue to put families deeper and deeper into debt: $40,053 for every American. They have clearly ignored the demands of taxpayers over the past year to cut spending so they can continue to expand government. Raising the debt ceiling by another $1.9 trillion to $14.294 trillion represents the largest one time debt limit increase in our nation’s history.

Folks, this is incredulous. A debt of $40,053 for every American man, woman and child. ( I wonder if it includes illegal aliens.) Our Gross National Product (GNP) for 2009 was $12,970 billion. If I haven't screwed up the math then $14.294 trillion divided by $12,970 billion will take over a 1,000 years to pay off the debt using the entire 2009 GNP each year. That is difficult to get my head around. I just can't comprehend billions and trillions. Millions is difficult enough. Just to give some perspective on a trillion$ think of seconds of time. A trillion seconds is almost 31,700 years. Now think of 14 trillion. Will we ever be able to reduce this debt to something manageable? Is the Obama crowd purposefully bankrupting the country? It gives cause to pause and reflect.

Congressman McCaul is my Congressman in the Texas 10th District. He is a conservative, and especially a fiscal conservative.
