Cheney's criticism of Sarah Palin

Cheney on a national media interview criticized the choice of Sarah Palin for McCain's running mate in 2008.  Cheney believes Palin failed the test of "Is this person capable of being president of the United States."

I have a real problem with all the criticism of Palin.  She had more experience than Obama when he was elected.  She is the darling of the TEA Party which is no small matter despite the rantings of the national news media.  And, you have to respect any woman that can shoot and field dress a moose.  I doubt Obama even knows which end of the gun the bullet comes out.  However, there is some Cheney family dissent.  Liz Cheney publicly said:  "Rarely do I disagree with the best Vice President ever but Sarah Palin was more qualified than Obama and Biden combined.  Huge respect for all she's done for the GOP."  Well said, Liz.

It's sad that Romney probably will not give Sarah a prominent part on the stage at the Republican convention in Tampa.  He needs to understand a lot of us are not necessarily voting FOR him.  We ARE voting against Obama.

Allen West - Vice-President?

Romney's short list of potential vice-resdent candidates is a well kept secret, and rightly so. However, I would like to see him choose Allen West. Not only is he well qualified, certainly more qualified than the current resident in the White House, but he is black.  This would cause a serious quandary for the black voting block. . . . which black guy do I vote for?

Poll after poll has shown a very large majority of the black population in 2008 voted exclusively for Obama because of the color of his skin.  Allen West on the ticket with Romney would cause black voters to have cause to pause and reflect on which black guy to cast their vote for, maybe enough to help put Romney over the top.

Barocky Road Ice Cream

I lifted this from a comment on another blog.  It is too clever and insightful not to share.

In honor of the 44th President of the United States , Baskin-Robbins Ice
Cream has introduced a new flavor: "Barocky Road "
Barocky Road is a blend of half vanilla, half chocolate, and surrounded by nuts and flakes.
The vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient.
The nuts and flakes are all very bitter and hard to swallow.
The cost is $82.84 per scoop....so out of a hundred dollar bill you are at least promised some CHANGE..!
When purchased it will be presented to you in a large beautiful cone, but after you pay for it, the ice cream
is taken away and given to the person in line behind you at no charge.
You are left with an empty wallet, holding an empty cone with no hope of getting any ice cream.
Don't you feel stimulated?

Federal Reserve Audit

The Federal Reserve has never been fully audited since its implementation in 1914.  Since then, the dollar has lost over 90% of its value and inerest-rate manipulation has created increasingly larger financial bubbles, like the most recent housing fiasco.  When these bubbles burst, the middle-class gets burned losing pensions, savings, and even homes.

It's just as important to note that transparency and accountability go hand-in-hand.       In 2010, the Fed was subject to a partial audit thanks to the efforts of millions of activists who demanded to know what their government was hiding.  The revelations of that audit are startling; the Fed printed at least $16 trillion out of thin air.  Some of the world's largest, most profitable companies were bailed out, along with countless domestic and foreign banks, and even foreign governments.

The truth is the central planners at the Fed are never going to stop destroying the value of the dollar and bailing out their friends on their own.  It is up to us to hold Congress' feet to the fire by demanding the secrecy and bailouts stop.  In the last 5 years, we've seen the negative effects of the Fed's inflationary policies, and we cannot afford the cronyism any longer.

HR 459 is pending in Congress.  It requires an audit of the Federal Reserve Bank.  It will finally open up their books to the general public.  Let your Congressman know that you support passage of HR 459.

10 Reason not to vote for Romney

This came from an emailer. Think what you will of Mitt Romney, compare the following to Barack Obama and vote accordingly in November. Don’t forget there’s a House and Senate election as well. One way to keep a president in line is to surround him with constitutionalists:

1. Drop-dead, collar-ad handsome with gracious, statesmanlike aura. Looks like every central casting’s #1 choice for Commander-in-Chief.
2. Been married to ONE woman his entire life, and has been faithful to her,  including through her bouts with breast cancer and MS.
3. No scandals or skeletons in his closet. ( How boring is that?)
4. Can’t speak in a fake, southern, " black preacher voice " when up at the  podium.
5. Highly intelligent. Graduated cum laude from both Harvard Law School and  Harvard Business School . . . and by the way, his academic records are NOT  sealed.
6. Doesn’t smoke or drink alcohol and has never done drugs, not even in the counter-culture age when he went to college. Too square for today’s America?
7. Represents an America of “yesterday”, where people believed in God, went to Church, didn’t screw around, worked hard, and became a SUCCESS!
8. Has a family of five great sons …. and none of them have police records or are in drug rehab. But of course, they were raised by a stay-at-home mom, and that “choice” alone has prompted America’s scorn.
9. Oh yes . . . he’s a MORMON. We need to be very afraid of that very strange religion that teaches its members to be clean-living, patriotic, fiscally responsible, charitable, self-reliant, and honest. Compare Romney’s Mormonism with the rhetoric of Jeremiah Wright.
10. And one more point . . . pundits say because of his wealth, he can’t relate to ordinary Americans. I guess that’s because he made that money HIMSELF . . .  as opposed to marrying it or inheriting it from Dad. Apparently, he didn’t understand that actually working at a job and earning your own money made you un-relatable and offensive to Americans.

And, I might add that when asked about his wealth and bank accounts in the Caymen Islands I suggest Romney reply:  "Yes, I'm wealthy.  Yes, I have Caymen Island bank accounts.  And, if Obama is re-elected I'll send even more of my money to the Caymen Islands."

2nd Amendment & Gun Control

This morning I was watching FoxNews Sunday with Chris Wallace.  Senator Feinstein (D-CA) was a guest talking about the cinema killings at a Batman movie in Aurora, Colorado.  She adamantly urged more gun control saying hunters and sportsmen don't need high powered semi-automatic weapons.  This prompted me to send the following email to Chris Wallace:

The 2nd Amendment is not meant to provide guns for hunters and sportsmen.  It is meant to provide the means for the citizens to protect themselves from the tyranny of government.   Our form of government has survived and prospered because the power mongers that lurk in the bowels of government know they will not succeed if they try to wrest the reins of government from the people.  Thus, we need more than simple handguns and shotguns in the hands of the people.  A factor that prevented Japan from attempting an invasion of the West Coast during WW II was the Japanese had no reliable assessment of the fire power in the hands of the people.  Hitler did not invade Switzerland because he knew every adult citizen was issued a firearm.  It's not the firearm that kills people.  It's the deranged mind of a person that kills people.  It's not the matches that start the fires of arsonists.  It's the deranged mind of a person.  Evil has always existed.  Evil will always exist.  What we need to attack is evil.

Thomas Sowell on Obama and Taxes

This was taken from an article by Thomas Sowell, a black economist and senior fellow at the Hoover Institute, published in Townhall.com, July 14, 2012:

"Ironically, the Obama campaign's attacks on Mitt Romney for putting his money in the Cayman Islands substantiate the point that President Kennedy and others have made, that higher tax rates can drive money into tax shelters, whether tax-exempt municipal bonds or investments in other countries.
In other words, raising tax rates does not automatically raise tax revenues for the government. Higher tax rates have often led to lower tax revenues for states, the federal government and other countries. Conversely, lower tax rates have often led to higher tax revenues. It all depends on the circumstances.
But none of this matters to Barack Obama. If class warfare rhetoric about taxes leads to more votes for him, that is his bottom line, whether the government gets a dime more revenue or not. So long as his lies go unchallenged, a second term will be the end result for him and a lasting calamity for the country."
The last paragraph is particularly telling.  Obama has only one objective. . . to be re-elected and he cares not what he does to achieve it.  And, I fear that as long as he rails "tax the rich" and "spread the wealth" there are enough people on the welfare gravy train that respond to that he will be re-elected.

13 Things to Remember about Guns

This very month (July 2012) Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State, is negotiating the UN Small ArmsTreaty that will negate the 2nd Amendment and make us subject to UN control of our guns, and President Obama is poised to sign it.  This is about to quietly fly under the radar unnoticed.

I lifted the following from "The Patriot" blog.

Gun lovers. Herewith are thirteen things to remember when carrying your weapon. This list is not original. I’ve Google up the bullet points but alas …I got nada in regards to who penned it. If and when someone schools me on who the author is you can rest assure that I’ll give him or her proper praise. Enjoy.
  1. Guns have only two enemies rust and politicians.
  2. It’s always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
  3. Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.
  4. Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arms length.
  5. Never say, “I’ve got a gun.” If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off.
  6. The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes; the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.
  7. The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win – cheat if necessary.
  8. Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he’ll have to beat you to death with it, because it’ll be empty.
  9. If you’re in a gunfight:
  10. – If you’re not shooting, you should be loading.
    – If you’re not loading, you should be moving.
    – If you’re not moving, you’re dead.
  11. In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!
  12. If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?
  13. You can say ‘stop’ or ‘alto’ or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone’s head is pretty much a universal language.
  14. You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.
Also, here's my two-bits worth on guns:  "Its better to have one and not need it, than to need one and not have it."

How to Qualify

This is kind of interesting.
Do a GOOGLE search on:  "How to qualify for"
You will get a large number of things provided by the government and how to qualify to receive the benefits.
You will be amazed at the number of government programs available.
We have truly become the "Nanny State."

Kids and Taxes

Kids should have to work.
I had my first hourly wage job at age 14 making 40 cents an hour, the minimum wage, as a baggage checker and handler at the Union Bus Station in Oklahoma City.  I got a real eye-opener when I received my first paycheck.  Good grief!  I didn't get the full amount for the hours I worked.  I couldn't believe it.  Why was some of my money taken out?  It was my first dose of real-life reality. . . . its not my money.  Its the government's money and they take their cut first and let me have the rest.  It was then I learned a hard lesson about government and taxes.
So, I say kids should have to work early in life and learn that the government hovers over every hour they work to take some of it.  If young people learn early enough in life they have "skin in the game" (pay taxes) it will greatly influence how they vote in the future.

Government and Labor Unions

Big government and big labor unions are very much alike.
Big government extracts money (taxes) from the electorate and uses it to further enhance the positions and standing of the leadership.  Lush trips to luxurious hotels and resorts are the order of the day.  Cost be damned.  Fun and entertainment is of paramount importance.
Big labor unions extract money (dues) from the members and use it to further enhance the positions and standing of the leadership.  Lush trips to luxurious hotels and resorts on union-owned private jets are common place.  Cost be damned.  Fun and entertainment is of paramount importance.
Question:  Do we, the people, who pay for all this excess really need big government and big labor unions?  I say a resounding, "No!"
