Treason

Webster defines treason as: "Attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance." Of recent I've had cause to pause and contemplate just where is the point at which overt acts become attempts to overthrow the government. Just exactly where is the line to be crossed for it to become treason. Are overt acts to "transform" the government borderline treason? Just what exactly is meant by transform. Again, Webster defines transform as: "to change in composition or structure; to change in character or condition. Transform implies a major change in form, nature or function." Does the attempt to overthrow have to be violent to be treason or can it be by stealth transformation?

A friend recently sent me the following quote which I think is very appropriate for todays political environment in our government.

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor, he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. ~ Cicero, 42 B.C.

We must be vigilant!

The Environment and CO2

I've known from my high school biology class days that plants require CO2 to grow and the by-product of that growth is oxygen. Animals, including people, require oxygen to grow and the by-product of that growth is CO2. The planet earth is a closed eco-system. Its evident, at least to me, that our Creator made it that way so that the plants support us and we support the plants. Now is there a balance between the amount of oxygen and CO2? I suppose there is, but what is the limits of the balance? Can we, mortal man, upset that balance? I don't know and I suspect no one else knows. I do know that environmental alarmists like Al Gore have made millions of dollars espousing their belief that man can and is destroying the planet. I suspect God smiles at such folly. Following is an excerpt on this topic from the NASA web page www.NASAexplores.gov:

By definition, a plant is a living thing that produces its own food through photosynthesis. This process uses carbon dioxide and water. Trapping light from the Sun, plants are able to change sunlight’s energy into useable chemical energy. Not only is chemical energy produced, but oxygen is a by-product of photosynthesis. Plants are essential to the balance of life on Earth … and to life, as we know it, on other planets.

Plants may play an important part in NASA’s Vision for Space Exploration. When human beings establish permanent bases on the moon or Mars, they will continue to need food, water, and air, but because those items aren’t widely available on other planets, keeping a ready supply on hand will be a challenge.

After all, Earth is a closed system, even though we can’t see the walls of the system. When human beings consume food, it’s oxidized and carbon dioxide (CO2) is given off as waste. Plants use the CO2, along with water and minerals to generate new food and give off more oxygen.

Rush Limbaugh - Susan of Glendale, CA

A lady, Susan from Glendale, CA, appeared on the Rush Limbaugh radio program today. She spoke with such concern and passion about the way our country is falling into a liberal abyss that I felt compelled to send an email to Rush. If you want to read the entire segment go to www.rushlimbaugh.com. Here is my email:

Rush:

I'm your Dad's generation. I'm a WW II Veteran. Your Dad flew airplanes. I jumped out of them. I've listened to you for over 15 years. My son turned me on to you. He said, "Dad, you need to listen to this guy. He sounds just like you." I heard Susan from Glendale on your program today. I'm no damn sissy, but she brought tears to my eyes. I share her concerns and fears. She is a woman I could vote for as President. Who gives a damn about her lack of "political gravitas", she has passion and love of her country. I'll take that in a New York minute over political savvy. I went to your web site and re-read hers and your comments. Rush, believe me like you would your own father, we need a way to get her message out not only to the 22 million that listen to you, but to the great unwashed that never listen. We have to pound them every day with Susan's message until it soaks in. I, like Susan, feel helpless. I don't have the know how to accomplish it. You do. You're smart, you're quick, you're knowledgeable, you're passionate, you love your country. You have the know how and ability to make it happen. You have to do it! You're our only hope. There is no one else on the national conservative scene that speaks out like you do. I don't want to die knowing my country has fallen into a liberal abyss and become a third rate country run by a bunch of Chicago mobsters. I love you (in a fatherly way). I appreciate what you do for our country. Thanks a million
