Munitions for ISIS

Lets see.

Today the White House announced that we air dropped 50 tons of munitions and supplies into Syria for the Syrian moderates fighting to overthrow al-Assad.  Now, we just spent $500 million to train five, yes five, fighters for the cause.  If my math is correct that's 10 tons of munitions and supplies per fighter air dropped somewhere in Syria.  I know and you know that 49 tons of these munitions and supplies will end up in the hands of ISIS.

Can anyone say stupid?

Immigration and Native Americans

Consider the Native Americans.

In a matter of a few decades their culture and way of life was totally decimated by an overwhelming immigration of a possessive culture from foreign lands.  With the high mobility and speed of today's communications and transportation a totally different culture can just as easily and effectively decimate our culture and way of life in a matter of several years, not decades.  At our current rate of immigration, legal and illegal, by a distinctly possessive culture (Islam), if nothing is done to curtail it we can expect a major shift in our current way of life about 2030.

I'm in my late 80's and don't expect to live to see it, thank God, but like the Native Americans I shudder with angst for our children and grandchildren.

By the way, I'm part Native American (Cherokee and Narragansett)

Dear Readers

Dear Readers,  if I have any left.

I humbly beg your forbearance for my neglect to this blog.  I just haven't had the desire or inclination to think about much of anything except family.  This year has not been kind to my family.  There have been five family related deaths this year.  The most recent only a month ago.  First, it was my wife, then my sister, a cousin, my daughter's-in-law mother, and an uncle.  My wife and sister were close.  They knew each other as kids.  It was through their friendship I came to know the little girl that would ultimately become my lifetime wife of 65 years.  They are buried in a small family cemetery only 12 feet apart with space for her husband, a teenage friend, and me.

I will try to be more responsive and post my observations and comments on life and current events.  I'm an old guy (87 years December 7th) and my own mortality looms on the near horizon, so there may be times when I'm just not up to it.

Thank you and God bless.
