Obama's son?

Speaking to the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman shooting incident in Florida President Obama said on national TV in words to the effect that if he had a son he would want him to be like Trayvon, the 17 year old black victim shot and killed by George Zimmerman, a "white" Hispanic neighborhood watchman in Florida.

Sean Tyson, a 17 year old black youth known as "Savage", robbed two white tourists from England visiting Disneyland in Florida.  They had very little money on them, just traveler checks and credit cards, so Sean shot both dead.  He was tried in a court of law and sentenced to life in prison about the same time as the Martin/Zimmerman shooting went viral in the news media.

I wonder why President Obama didn't go on national TV and say that if he had a son he would want him to be like Sean Tyson?

What black youths ages 18 to 25 should fear most are other black youths ages 18 to 25.  That is the problem Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Shelia Jackson Lee, et al should direct their energies toward finding a solution, and quit shooting off their mouths like they brush their teeth with gun powder.

GMC - Government Motor Company

This is sheer insanity.  Government run wild.  Its incredible the things the Obama administration is doing.  This is what happens when the government runs motor companies.  Why is it in the interest of the United States or GMC to bailout Peugeot, a French motor company?

This quote is from the March 28, 2012 issue of the Washington Times newspaper:

The latest wrong turn is GM’s move to buy a large stake in troubled French automaker Peugeot. The taxpayers who bailed out GM just got sold a lemon.
This is a bad deal on its face. Government Motors is paying $420 million to get 7 percent of Peugeot, which, like GM, has been struggling to make financial ends meet for years. Peugeot lost $578 million and sales were down 8.8 percent in 2011. There’s no mystery why. Anyone who spends any time across the Atlantic knows these French rides are marred by mediocre performance, iffy quality and uninspired styling.
On top of that, Europe’s economy is teetering on the brink of collapse, which has resulted in a 15 percent to 20 percent decline in car sales over the past five years. European auto sales dropped nearly 10 percent last year alone. Onerous labor laws mean carmakers can’t lay off workers and it’s difficult to close factories so supply can’t be rationed to match demand. This dynamic leads to costly excess capacity that BusinessWeek pegs at 20 percent.

Raking Leaves and Thinking

Today was a beautiful spring day.  I was raking leaves.  We have lots of big trees and leaf management is always a big thing here.  Raking leaves also doesn't require much concentration.  So, I do a lot of thinking while raking leaves.

Today I was thinking about a lot of things, but one especially came into mind, the killing of the young black boy by a white man in Florida.  I wondered why it was getting so much media play with so many people with so little knowledge of the facts, including the president, weighing in on the matter.

We have killings every day.  Just watch the daily TV news.  Houston, our local TV media market, leads every newscast with anywhere from one to four killings every day.  "Why do these killings not get the extended news coverage the one in Florida is getting," I wondered.  Bill O'Reilly on FoxNews the other night decried the number of killings every day in Southside Chicago, Obama's old community organizing stomping grounds.  A six year old little Hispanic girl had just been killed by the stray bullet of random shootings by a gang of hooded black  hoodlums.  Did it get extended media coverage?  No.  Did Obama weigh in on the matter? No.  Then, why?  That kept nagging me as the leaves flew.

Then, it dawned on me.  White on white killings, black on black killings, black on white killings are ignored by the media after the first news cycle.  But, let there be a white on black killing and the news media, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, et al, and even the president, are all over it with full racial implications for days and days.

Then, this evening I read the following news article from the Godfather blog which I subscribe to.  This makes it all very clear:

The killing of Trayvon Martin is tragic. I suspect, however, that few people know the whole story. This doesn’t matter to Democrats who are using the tragedy to fire up their liberal base, especially among those in the Black community. Even President Obama has gotten involved. “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said. Race has become the issue. Consider this description of the alleged killer by a Reuters news story:
Seventeen-year-old Trayvon Martin, dressed in a “hoodie” sweatshirt, was shot dead a month ago in Sanford, Florida by a 28-year-old white Hispanic neighborhood watch volunteer who said he was acting in self-defense.
A “white Hispanic”? When have you ever heard of someone described as a “white Hispanic”?
Democrats and so-called Black leaders say little about black-on-black crime, drive-by shootings, and gang violence in the Black community. Why? There is no political capital to be gained. Have you ever heard about Derrion Albert, a black 16 year old honor student who was killed in Chicago In September of 2009? Albert was killed by other blacks when he attempted to help a victim in a fight between two rival black gangs.
Consider these comments by E.W. Jackson, Sr. in his article “Black Leaders Ignore Black-on-Black Crime” about the Derrion Albert killing:
Yet in this case and others like it, there is a deafening silence from some of the biggest mouths in America. Jesse Jackson, , Julian Bond, Louis Farrakhan and the Congressional Black Caucus see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil. When Prof. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was arrested by a white police officer, President Barack Obama — without any facts — found it necessary to put in his two cents. Here in Chicago, the salient facts are abundantly clear and a heinous murder has been committed in his home town, but the president is silent. Malicious, homicidal maniacs brutally killed a decent young man on the streets Obama “organized,” but he has nothing to say. The self-appointed, media supported “black leaders” have not seen fit to hold a press conference or a rally supporting Derrion Albert and his family and condemning the perpetrators of this vicious crime. They have not called for witnesses to come forward.
Using the Trayvon Martin case to best advantage, Jesse Jackson said, “Blacks are under attack.” But by whom? Black-on-black crime is the leading cause of death among black males ages 18 to 24.
As usual, Al Sharpton has had something to say about the Trayvon Martin killing. Do you remember the Al Sharpton/Tawana Brawley incident? “In 1987, when she was 15 years old, Brawley received media attention when she accused six white men, some of whom were police officers, of raping her.” Sharpton got involved and hyped the story. “After hearing evidence, a grand jury concluded in October 1988 that Brawley had not been the victim of a forcible sexual assault and that she herself may have created the appearance of an attack. The New York prosecutor whom Brawley had accused as one of her alleged assailants successfully sued Brawley and her three advisers for defamation.”
One of those advisers was Sharpton. “The jury found Sharpton liable for making seven defamatory statements against one of the defendants.” In 2004, Sharpton was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for president. He makes regular guest appearances on Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC. He is the host of MSNBC’s “Politics Nation,” a nightly talk show.
Supporting false accusations and being sued for defamation has not stopped Sharpton’s career. In fact, it seems to have enhanced it. He’s still considered a spokesman for the Black community.
In the end, the death of Trayvon Martin will be used to widen the racial divide in America. It’s sad to think that this young man’s death is being used as a political prop to win the next election.

Fairness

Fairness.  We hear a lot about fairness these days, especially from the upper echelons of government.  Seems everything must be fair.  Where do all these so called intellectuals get the notion everything must be fair?   Is it fair one person is short and another tall?  Is it fair one person is good-looking and another is not so good looking?  Is it fair one person is smart and another is not so smart?  Where in the Constitution does it say life must be fair?  Life is not fair.  Never has been.  Never will be.  Deal with it.  It is not humanly possible to make life fair for everyone.  Can you imagine how dull life would be if we were all tall, good looking and smart?  Fairness for all is somewhat like redistribution of wealth.  A socialistic pipe-dream with no real achievable practical application.

Cushing, Oklahoma

Tomorrow your president goes to, of all places, Cushing, Oklahoma.  "Cushing", you say, "Where the hell is that?"  It is a small town (population about 10,000) in an isolated area of Oklahoma about half way between Oklahoma City and Tulsa. "Why Cushing?", you ask,  "What does my president know that I don't know?"  He has no idea what's in Cushing or what it's like.  Furthermore, he doesn't give a damn.  All he knows is his handlers told him to get his ass down to Cushing for a photo-op to prove he is doing something to ameliorate his stance on oil production and create an image in the minds of the unwashed willing Americans that he is doing something about the high price of gasoline.

Cushing is the major hub in the oil pipeline business, thus all prices of U.S. produced oil are quoted as delivery to Cushing.  In words which most of you may better understand, Cushing is to the oil industry as Atlanta is to Delta Air Lines.  Almost everyone in Cushing works in some manner in the oil business.

Tomorrow the entire town of Cushing will be shut down, no Oklahoma officials (governor, lieutenant governor, or dog catcher) present and no outside news media people allowed, except as approved by your president's handlers.  He will make some dumbass brilliant statement about how much he is doing to lower the price of gasoline, smile big for the cameras, and get back on his helicopter to fly back to Air Force One parked on the runway (with engines running) at Tinker Field in Midwest City, OK, and away he will go.

He will be on the ground in Cushing less than half an hour.  How much do you think all this will cost taxpayers?  And, for what?   Now, doesn't this make you feel warm and fuzzy all over?

Houston Campaign Fund Raiser

I just watched on a Houston TV station as a huge limousine pulled up to the stairway leading up to an open door on Air Force One.  A few seconds later  "o" ran up the stairs and into Air Force One as they closed the door behind him.  In less than a minute it was moving on the tarmac to take off for return to Washington.

The TV commentator droned on saying "o" raised $3 million in one day in Houston for his campaign war chest.  A mighty sum for only a few hours.  It cost $500 for a ticket into Reliant Stadium in the nose-bled section.  It cost anywhere from $1500 to $10,000 depending on how close you wanted to be to the "o".  It cost $38,000 for a seat at a dinner held for him.

I wonder how much this one trip cost the taxpayers?  I not only saw the huge presidential limousine but also numerous support vehicles and personnel scurrying about.  Air Force One had to fly a one hour holding pattern before landing at Ellington AFB due to weather.  Then, there was all the costs of the logistics, security, and Houston police presence.  When all the expenses are tallied and deducted I wonder what was the net amount?  Will the Democrat Party reimburse Houston?  And, I guess the taxpayers are hosed for the rest?  Something doesn't see right here.

Contraception

With all the problems we as a nation and society face today why is it contraception is the major issue in the national dialogue?   Why can't we have a like national dialogue about morality?

I have no problem with contraception if one so chooses.  I just don't want to have to pay for it.

When a guy takes Ms. Fluke to dinner he picks up the restaurant tab.  When he takes her for drinks he picks up the bar tab.  When he takes her to bed why can't he pick up the contraception tab?

Just what is contraception anyhow?  Aren't such devices and supplies  readily available at local drugstores and Walmart for a nominal cost?

Andrew Breitbart

Today we Conservatives lost a true warrior for our cause.
Andrew Breitbart died early this morning at age 43 after collapsing on the sidewalk in front of his house about ten o'clock last night.  He is the one that exposed ACORN for what they were and exposed Congressman Weiner for what he was.  Those two are the most notable.  There are many other instances where he exposed the Democrats and liberals for what they really are.
He recently said he has a wealth of expose' material to use against the Democrats and liberals to reveal later this year in the presidential election campaign.  This gives me cause to pause and question if the powers that be didn't have something to do with his sudden demise.  Men his age do not usually just suddenly drop dead for no apparent reason.  I truly hope his associates will carry on his crusade.

Andrew leaves a wife and four young children.  Remember them in your prayers.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan.  Wy are we still there?  We've been there over ten years.  We've expended tons of money and the precious blood of our young people there.  And, for what?  Those people hate us just as much now as they did ten years ago.  There is no point in trying to bring them into the 21st Century.  If we are there another ten years and expend ever greater amounts of money and spill ever greater amounts of precious blood the situation will be the same.  Those people do not want to change.  They like it the way it is.  They hate us for trying to change it.  We should not be in the business of nation building.  And, if you fight a war you fight it all out to win, otherwise don't bother.  If I had my way we would immediately withdraw all our troops, then carpet bomb the place back to the stone age.
