Buffett's Solution to America's Debt Problem

This is just too good not to pass on. It came from a FaceBook post by one of my Oklahoma nephews:

Midwestern oil tycoon Warren Buffett presented his quick and easy solution to America's debt problem today on CNBC:

"I could end the deficit in five minutes. You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than three percent of GDP all sitting members of congress are ineligible for reelection."

KUDOS!!

Spending

We don't have a budget problem. We don't have a debt problem. We don't a deficit problem. We have a spending problem. This evening I saw the following statistics on the FoxNews Bill O'Reilly program:

Clinton spent $ 547 million a day
Bush spent $ 1.6 billion a day
Obama spends $ 4.1 billion a day

This is insanity. Our government spends and spends with no responsibility or accountability. Who gets all this money? How much longer can we tolerate the ineptness or crass intent of the little "o" to spend our nation into oblivion? More and more every day I am coming to believe he is following the Cloward and Piven (two socialist professors at Columbia in 1962 when the little "o" was there) plan to crash the capitalistic system of our nation so a socialistic system can arise from the ashes. Can we survive another year and a half of this? In 2012 will we, the conservatives, be able to remove the Soros socialistic cancer infection in our government and restore constitutional sanity?

Obama Quote from the Washington Times

Following is a quote from Obama at a recent news conference as reported by the Washington Times newspaper:

"I think increasingly, the American people are going to say to themselves, 'You know what? If a party or a politician is constantly taking the position my-way-or-the-highway, constantly being locked into ideologically rigid positions, that we're going to remember at the polls'."

Folks, take him at his word and remember "that" at the polls in November 2012.

14th Amendment & Presidential Authority

As we teeter on the edge of economic collapse Obama and his Democrat cohorts claim the 14th Amendment gives Obama the authority to unilaterally commit taxpayers money to selectively pay government obligations as he chooses.

14th Amendment, Section 4 reads:
"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrections or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United Staes, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave, but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void."

I've read this no less than a hundred times. For the life of me I cannot find an iota of evidence that gives the president authority to bypass Congress and unilaterally assume the constitutionally delegated authority of Congress. It looks to be yet another of the Democrats distortion of the Constitution in their attempts to wrest control from the people and entrench statism authority in a central government.

Debt and Government

I lifted this from the Internet:

"Think raising the U.S. debt ceiling is a new issue? Forget it. Congress established the nation's first debt ceiling in 1917. By 1919, they had to raise it. Over the 92 years since then, we've hit or almost hit the debt ceiling 76 times and Congress has raised it... 76 times. Wonder what they'll do this time?"

What does this tell us about government?. . . It has an insatiable craving for more and more money to ever expand the size and reach of government into all aspects of our lives. Is there a time when it will ever stop?. . . Only when it comes crashing down all around us. Is there a person or group of persons with the fortitude to stop it?. . . Not very likely. . . Its too much fun spending other people's money.

Obama's mother-in-law & Social Security

Obama threatens to not send out the Social Security checks on August 3rd to Senior Citizens if the Republicans don't cave and authorize a $2 trillion increase in the national debt ceiling (already $14 trillion +) on August 2nd. That won't happen. His 74 year old mother-in-law resides in the White House. She will bring the full force of a mother's-in-law wrath down on Barack's head if she doesn't get her check. That's pressure he can't deflect with his tricky tongue dialogue. She gets free room and board and all the goodies that go with living in the White House and free travel on Air Force One at taxpayers expense, but she darn well better get her Social Security check, Barack. . . . or else.

Fed Up, by Texas Gov. Rick Perry - Part 4

More of my favorite quotes from Governor Rick Perry's book, Fed Up:

President Obama's 2010 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR), the periodic strategic plan for our national defense, devoted a full three pages to climate change, mentioning it more times than China, Russia, North Korea, or Iran.

Ridding the world of nuclear weapons may appease the most ardent leftist protestors, but it ignores the realities of a world full of power hungry despots that respect us not because of our ideals but because of our strength.

Nothing is more critical to the welfare of our nation nor more fundamental to the powers granted to the federal government than our national security. Yet, the current regime treats it like some international popularity contest while focusing time and again on countless matters not remotely contemplated for federal action by the Founders.

President Obama seems more inclined to turn NASA into a Muslim outreach effort than to advance our interests in space.

Washington's paralysis on the seminal issue of our time--dealing with terrorists whose mission is to kill as many Americans as possible--signals weakness to our enemies.

Washington simply cannot follow basic instructions. The Constitution is not a complicated document. The federal government's core function is to defend the nation. Yet, our military is strained, our leaders are more concerned with world popularity than strength, and our borders remain porous.

Guns, Piracy and Insanity

The insanity of Obama and Holder, his attorney general, never ceases to amaze while at the same time is distressing.

They "walk" guns into Mexico to give to the drug cartels to kill Mexicans, and an occasional American. Why? A 10-year old knows better. I suspect it probably had something to do with creating a "crisis" about gun-running across the border to Mexico so to justify the enactment of more restrictive controls on private gun ownership in the United States.

A Somali pirate, Warsome, was captured on the high seas by an American Navy ship, detained, questioned, and brought to New York City to be tried in a civilian court with all the civil rights of an American. Its beyond stupidity. Its insanity. This guy never before set foot on American soil. By what right is he entitled to the same rights as an American citizen? What ever happened to the traditional and proper way to dispose of pirates captured on the high seas--hang them from yardarm?

The Pledge of Allegiance

Do you know who wrote the original "Pledge of Allegiance" to the flag?

It was originally written by Frances Bellamy in 1892. Who was he? He was a Baptist minister, a Christian Socialist, and cousin of socialist utopian novelist Edwin Bellamy. The original "Pledge of Allegiance" was published in a popular child's magazine, The Youths Companion, as part of a national public school celebration of Columbus Day celebrating the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Columbus in the Americas. The event was promoted by James Upham, a marketer of the magazine, as a campaign to instill American nationalism by selling flags to schools and magazines to students. Swearing of the Pledge was accompanied by a salute. The early version adopted in 1892 was known as the "Bellamy Salute." It started with the hand outstretched toward the flag, palm down, and ended with palm up. When I was a school kid in the 1930's this was the salute commonly accepted as we recited the pledge at the beginning of each school day. Because of the similarity of the Bellamy Salute to the Nazi salute, developed later, President Roosevelt in December 1942 instituted the hand-on-the-heart gesture as the salute.

The pledge was formally adopted by Congress as the national pledge in 1942. It has been modified four times since its original compilation. The most recent change added the words "under God" in 1954.
