Trump - My Take

Trump is the ultimate big business insider.  He is the epitome of big business.  He sees everything as a deal.  The deal is his holy grail.  His campaign for the nomination is a deal, his biggest deal of all.  If elected president big business will thrive and he will become even more rich.  He doesn't take donations.  He's paying for the deal himself, therefore it is his deal and he has no obligation to anyone but himself, so he will see it as his moral right to prosper from the deal as president.  Much like Obama I don't think he understands the concept of the three equal branches of government, thus he will cut deals over and above the legislative branch and will emasculate anyone that tries to kill his deals. I think he got into the fray on a lark to enhance his public entertainment persona, but as time passed he came to believe his own rhetoric and sized on the opportunity to make the biggest and greatest deal of all time. . . . POTUS.

If it turns out he is the REAL DEAL, then I'll eat ample crow.

Natural Born American

Just what is a natural born American?  There's no doubt when a child is born in the United States of parents both of whom were born in the United States.  But, in today's environment of high mobility of people world wide it becomes questionable in some circumstances.  Its ironic a woman that is a Mexican citizen impregnated by a man that is a Mexican citizen can at the eighth month walk across the Southern Border and give birth a month later in Tucson and the child is a natural born American citizen.  Yet, it becomes questionable when  a woman born in the United States impregnated by a non-citizen man  gives birth on a foreign land and that child is not a natural born citizen.

Perhaps the time has come when a more definitive definition needs to be provided to say what is a natural born citizen.  In the meantime, it will continue to be debated in every presidential election.

GITMO - A Recruiting Tool?

Obama consistently touts GITMO as a recruiting tool for the radical Islamic terrorists.  He once again said so in his State of the Union speech tonight while proclaiming his goal to close GITMO before his term ends.  I don't understand how it is or where the Democrats have concluded that GITMO is such a strong recruiting tool.  I have news for them.  The strongest and most effective recruiting tool is SUCCESS.  It doesn't matter whether its a college football recruiting program, a business,  or a terrorist group, success is the keynote of recruiting to the cause.  And, contrary to Obama's words this evening ISIS is having a large measure of success due to his inaction, lack of leadership and will to confront ISIS and others of their ilk.  Therein lies their successful recruiting.  Not GITMO.

I'd like to see GITMO closed, too,  but only if appropriate and swift disposition is made of all the terrorist detainees. Its ludicrous that we spend $4 million per detainee per year to keep them there.
