Perfect Biblical Sense

This came to me from a friend via the Internet.  It is such an ironic twist on Biblical truth with a touch of humor that I couldn't help but pass it on to you.

MARIJUANA AND MARRIAGE:       

For those who haven't heard, Washington State recently passed two laws. They legalized gay marriage and legalized marijuana. 

       The fact that gay marriage and marijuana were legalized on the same day makes perfect Biblical sense as Leviticus 20:13 says: 

        "If a man lies with another man they should be stoned." 

Apparently we just hadn't interpreted it correctly before!

The Old Union Bus Station

Today, I read a news report that Saturday they began demolishing the old Union Bus Sation building in downtown Oklahoma City to make way for a parking garage.  The old building is a classic of Art Deco Moderne architecture.  It brought back a rush of memories, some fond and one irritating.

When I was a teenager in 1943 I got a job as a baggage handler at the Union Bus Station where I actually received a paycheck.  I was paid the minimum wage of forty cents an hour.  They paid every two weeks.  I worked 80 hours and expected my check to be $32.  When I received my check it was $29 and change.  I complained there was a mistake.  I had worked 80 hours.  It was supposed to be $32.  Then came a teachable moment of reality.  It was explained to me that I was not entitled to the entire amount, that the government would first deduct income tax and FICA (social security).  I moaned that wasn't fair, it was my money not the government's.

I was royally ticked off and have been ever since.

Is Trump a Trojan Horse?

Ever since Trump entered the political fray the national press has talked about nothing else.  All we see and hear is Trump this, Tramp that, Trump, Trump, Trump.  Sounds like a drum beat.  Hillary is totally off the radar which is just the way she wants it.  I'm beginning to think Trump is a Democrat mole posing as a Republican, but really a Trojan Horse.  By keeping the national media focus on Trump our lady Hillary can relax and not have to answer naughty questions.  And, if Trump runs as a third party candidate (which wouldn't surprise me) then Hillary will coast to victory.  Remember Ross Perot?

What I Know

When I was sixteen I thought I pretty much knew everything there was to know.

When I was twenty-two after a a tour of service in the army I knew there were some things I didn't know.

When I was thirty-five I knew there were a lot of things I didn't know.

When I was fifty-five I was beginning to come to the conclusion I knew very little.

And, now at eighty-seven I realize I know next to nothing.  However, I still do know the way home.

Apology

My apologies for my neglect to you fine folks that read my blog.

The past few weeks have been hectic.  My dear sister suffered with cancer for the better part of two years.  The last few weeks have been trying for our family as she gallantly fought this dreaded disease.  She peacefully passed from this world yesterday into God's arms and care.  She will be buried Saturday in our small family cemetery near my beloved wife.

I will resume posting in the near future.
