NFL Player Beating Up Girl Friend

Am I out of step with the times, or what?

A hotel security camera showed NFL player Ray Rice beating up his girl friend in an elevator and dragging her out the door.  The NFL gives him a slap on the wrist.  Coach Harbaugh says its no big deal.  The news media goes into a frenzy.

Now don't get me wrong.  I don't approve of beating up women in elevators, or elsewhere.  But, the young lady has since married good old Ray.  Obviously, she doesn't think it is such a big deal else she wouldn't have married the guy.  So why is the news media bent into a pretzel over it?  Aren't there more important things to get excited about?
