Music and Noise

Is it just me or what? Has anyone noticed that what passes for the most part as music today is mostly noise, or more aptly just plain racket. Mozart said, "Music is not intended to offend the ear." Yet, we are constantly bombarded by "music" with repetitious three-word lyrics and not an iota of rhythm or measure of serenity. My wife and I go to a gym three days a week to workout. They pipe in "music" that offends the ear. I'd like to drop a hundred pound barbell on the darn thing. Oh, for the days of Glenn Miller, Guy Lombardo, and Bennie Goodman when music was music.
