Talk is Cheap

I was tearing old newspapers into strips to wad up and use to start a charcoal fire to grill a nice T-bone for our 4th of July dinner.  A front page headline in the December 17, 2012 issue of the local newspaper caught my eye.  It read, "Obama grieves, promises to use power to help."  The Newtown, Conn. (AP) article went on to report President Barack Obama declared Sunday he will use whatever power he has to prevent shootings like the Connecticut school massacre.  The article continued, "What choice do we have?" Obama said at an evening vigil in the shattered community of Newtown, Conn.  "Are we really prepared to say that we're powerless in the face of such carnage, that the politics are too hard?".

Fast forward a year and seven months to July, 2014.  Honestly, is there anything the most powerful man in the world with his pen and his cellphone has done to alleviate the problem?
