Petty Officer William L. Davidson - LST-982
Today yet another of that great cadre of young men that gallantly defended liberty and freedom passed from this world to eternity.
My brother, William Lee "Bill" Davidson, died at 2:57 p.m., April 20, 2013, at age 87 years. He was a resident of the Fort Dodge Old Soldiers Home near Dodge City, Kansas. He served in the South Pacific during World War II on LST-982. He was born March 3, 1926, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the eldest son of William Edmund and Mary Pauline Davidson. He lived a goodly part of his life in Liberal, Kansas. He will be buried in Restlawn Cemetery at Liberal next to his wife, Mary Elizabeth, and their son, Joseph Allen.
