This 'n That

A cold front blew through day before yesterday. Winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Blew leaves and tree branches everywhere. Have a clean up to do. . . . Clear and dry. Need a good rain. . . . Replaced a sprinkler head in the front yard. . . . When the wife and I drove in the other night from a dinner out eight deer ran from the yard across the driveway in the headlights over and through the fence into the west pasture. . . . I'm trying to get two large poinsettias to turn red before Christmas. They have to have at least twelve hours of total darkness each day. I set them in the dry-room in the barn each night and bring them outside the next morning for twelve hours of daylight. Its been a week. No sign of red. I think it takes about a month or so. . . . Our son, his wife and our granddaughter are coming for Thanksgiving. Cleaning up in the garage to get the electric deep-fryer out and cook the turkey in hot peanut oil. We've done this before. Sure is good eating. . . . Went to Bryan-College Station yesterday. Brunch at IHOP. Shopping at Lobby-Hobby and SAM's. . . . Put out a large roll of hay for the cows. They are content. The new calves are doing fine. Spike, the bull, is--well, he is a bull.
